Inspired by Francesca Woodman
impression of young talented woman.....
In March I made an awesome series with art model Anna.
We crossed paths early 2021 and discussed art we like and artists that inspires us. Anna mentioned she was a fan of Francesca Woodman’s work. I had never heard Francesca’s name mentioned before. After I had googled her and watched a documentary on her short life and her work, I could not let it go.
We decided to make a series inspired by some of Francesca Woodman best-known pictures. What a shame this talented American photographer died so young.
For more information on Francesca Wikipedia is a good start: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francesca_Woodman
The series was shot on a white bench – same as on Francesca’s pictures. I hooked up my camera at the ceiling of the studio as all original pictures were made “overhead,” so from the top downwards. Every picture was taken in the same position and where possible with the same lighting. Anna brought some props, which are very personal and mean a lot to her. I keep these secret at this time. Take a look at the pictures and see what you see, interpret where you think it is appropriate. We would love to hear your thoughts on this series, so please leave a comment below.
The story in this series starts at the bottom right to the top left..
9. 8. 7.
6. 5. 4.
3. 2. 1.
Prints are available for purchase in very limited edition.

Another famous picture Francesca made is one where she hangs from a doorpost. Anna loves to climb and boulder, so she has strong arms and hands. We decided to look for a spot in the building where she could pose similar to this picture. My studio is located in old school and we found one in its beautiful stairwell.
The building has very nice windows in that have very special particular shapes.
This creates an iteration pattern in the pictures.
All pictures are available in color and Black and White
